Halo eyeshadow

Hello, beauties! Sorry for the long delay, I've been super extra busy these days, with work and all that. I wanted to do more tutorials, but alas, when I had the time I was too tired and it just wasn't happening.

I had a break, though, and I thought I would do something nice with my time. Enter halo eyeshadow. It's such a beautiful look, and it's rather easy, but looks so polished that anyone would think you spent hours doing your makeup. So let's get to it.

You'll need a darker matte shade and a light shimmer shade that work well together. I chose a warm purplish shade and a rosy champagne, but you can choose whichever you like. Purples just look great on green eyes.

We start by packing the darker shadow on the inner and outer corners of our eyelid, careful not to apply any on the center of the lid. This will add depth to the corners of our eyes while making the center pop, giving that halo effect. Don't worry too much about blending at this stage.

Then we'll add the shimmery shade to the center of our lid and blend it with the darker shade. As you can see, the effect is already very interesting.

Now, you just line your top lashes, add mascara and fill in your brows, simple as that. You can then go on with your face makeup. I used a rather natural blush and lips to bring all attention to the eyes.

Poisonous Magenta

Hello everyone! Here I am back with a vibrant night look inspired in some magenta flowers I saw while browsing images in Google.

Magenta is a very striking and interesting colour for green eyes, as they are completely opposite hues in the colour wheel, and so they make each other stand out, although I'm fairly certain it will look beautiful in other eye colours too.

We start with an eyeshadow base, I use the Wet n' Wild photofocus eyeshadow primer, and then we pick a matt plum shade, filling roughly 3/4 of the eyelid, pressing instead of dragging the shadow so that the colour will really stick to the lid.

After that, with a pale matt pink we blend the plum shadow and highlight the brow bone.

Now we pick a vibrant magenta hue, I chose a metallic one to give an extra something to the look, and we paint up to a bit higher than the crease, letting the plum shade show.

Then, with a very dark plum or black we darken the outer V, blending really well so that there is no clear 'cut'. Remember, less is more, you're better off starting with little amounts of shadow and building it up little by little, rather than darkening too much all of a sudden, because it's harder to blend and it's even harder to prevent it from looking like a dark smudge.

We line, add mascara and fill in and shape our brows. It is very important to use eyeliner, because it creates a barrier between our eye and the reddish hues. Without this barrier, we'd look tired or sick.

For lips and cheeks soft tones that give us a healthy glow but won't stand out, so that all the attention goes to the eyes.

I'll tell you that in those two pics I'm wearing the scarf, I actually had rollers on, and even though it doesn't look like much, in person I looked like a lollypop, all head. It was a neverending source of laughter for my mother, brother and boyfriend, much to my dismay.

Review: i-Divine "Storm" palette - Sleek

Hello, beauties! I'm back, and today I want to show you my newest acquisition: the Sleek i-Divine "Storm" palette. It was actually a present (hello, boyfriend! ❤).

It's a beautiful palette, 12 shades both shimmery and matte, for just 10€. Each shade weighs 1.1g, and there are some jewel tones, as well as earthy tones and a deep black. It comes in a box, with some instructions on the back, and suggested combinations, as well as the ingredients. The case is thin and made of hard black plastic, very soft to the touch. It has a big mirror, very useful.

The shades have 'stormy' names like calm before the storm or snow storm, and the black one is called blackout, which actually made me laugh for some reason. They're all very pigmented and creamy, even the matte ones. They're all well-matched, and you can create tons of looks, from day looks to night, sophisticated looks with just the one palette. I particularly like the combination of perfect storm and firestorm (the two on the upper right).

All in all I liked it very much, and I have it in my makeup bag, as it is very versatile, so I don't have to take the big palettes everywhere I go. I like the quality very much and it's rather cheap, you really get a lot for your money.

Spring is here, ah-suh-puh-ring is here, life is skittles and life is beer *breaks into song*. No, really, spring is here, the most colourful season, which is glee to us makeup geeks, because it means we get to play with colour as much as we want.

To celebrate it, I painted my nails in a cute, sweet design. Hope you like it and inspires you to draw yourself a treat.

Hello there! I'm back here with a cut-crease step-by-step, in plum and cold gold. I've got a love-hate relationship with gold, because I love the shade but it looks terrible on my skin, it clashes -badly- with my complexion. This golden shade, though, it's great. It has a certain amount of silver in it, giving it a colder hue, and I absolutely love how it looks on me.

Cut-creases are stunning, not that hard to do and they are one wonderful look for a night out.

So, here we go:

We start by prepping the skin, I like using a primer to prevent my makeup from melting. Less is more with primer. Then we pick an angled brush and draw a line just slightly over our natural crease, with a pinkish copper shade, making sure to draw a wing on the outer corner. We blend it a bit with a vanilla shade under our brow bone and then, with a deep plum shade we trace the underside of the line we drew, darkening it to create depth.

After that, we apply the golden shade to the lid, up to the line we created, careful not to mix the colours. This golden shade will fit most complexions, but feel free to use a warmer shade if you think it looks good on you.

Then we fill in the brows, draw the liner and a couple coats of mascara, and there, done. You could always use false eyelashes if you wanted a more dramatic look. For the eyeliner I use gel eyeliner because I like the texture and its versatility, and for my brows I use Catrice Brow Definer in 02- flASHy brows, an ashy blonde shade that matches my natural colour perfectly.

For some reason, my hair looks reddish instead of dirty blond, who knows why. The reddish tinge is only on my hair though, the rest looks rather accurate.

Review - Wet'n Wild Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer

Hello again! Here I am to share with you one of my latest discoveries. I always try to use and recommend quality products, but cheap ones, because you don't need to spend a ton to get a good result in my experience.

Up to this moment I had been using the eyeshadow base I <3 colour intensifying (Essence), and it did the job for me, it lasted for 8 hours no problem, but lately my days are quite a bit longer, and I needed something that could keep up with me, because honestly, I'm not big on having to touch up all day.

A while ago, I read about the primer Take on the Day (Wet'nWild); people were comparing it to UD's Primer Potion, some even said it was better, but I never managed to get my hands on it. However, the other day I found this primer in Marvimundo -spanish drugstore-, and when I looked it up on google, i found it had the same ingredients, actually in the product website it said it was just a new look (apparently, WnW had a contract with Fergie, and when it ended, all products in her line underwent a makeover and that was it).

Thing is, for just 5.99€ I thought what's the worst that could happen? Turns out it surprised me - in a good way.

The product itself comes inside a box, where it says it "brightens eyelids", that it has a "smooth, effortless application" and that it is long lasting. Furthermore, it comes with the list of ingredients and the Cruelty Free logo.

Inside you have the primer, in a sleek black and white squeeze tube, better IMO because less is wasted this way, it's 10 ml for less than 6€, but still, I pay for something and I want to get everything I pay for. The primer is dense and greasy to the touch, and beige in color, but when you blend it, it dries fast and clear.

And the result, in my opinion, is very good. But I'd rather show you:

This is makeup just applied, early morning, natural light

This is makeup more than 13 hours later, late at night, artificial light

I don't know if the pictures do the product any justice, because the light was different, and the camera was different too, but the shadows stayed in place a long work day, more than 13 hours, no creasing, almost no fading, eyeliner didn't move to the upper lid. No need to touch up or worry.

I have very oily lids, so without a good base, my eye makeup is ruined in less than an hour. For those with dry skin, it may be too drying, and it may not be the primer for them, but for us who have oily skin, it's a very good purchase.

Hi, beauties!

My name is Danny Z., and this is my new makeup blog.

I love art and colours, anyone who's ever met me knows that, so it wasn't all that surprising when a long long time ago I discovered makeup and got hooked. Gosh, all the pretty colours, all the wonderfully creative ideas, a new world opened before me, and I couldn't help but share all of that with people, so I started a makeup blog in Spanish -the language spoken where I live, where I was born.

That was almost five years ago.

During that time, I learned a lot, did lots of fun things: characterization courses, photoshoots, weddings... so many things, and I had such a great time, met such amazing people.

Then, today, I woke up and realized I wanted to do something else: I wanted to reach more people, have other people reach me, learn new things from other places, explore a whole new world. Being bilingual, it was only logical that I came up with this project: start another blog in English. Same contents, different language.

I want to invite you for the ride, I hope you'll enjoy it, and stay with me for as long as it may last.
